Rob,

Just a late chiming in. I also want to thank you for providing so many meaningful insights. It's not just the content of what you say, but the way you deliver your thoughts that stand out. I have always had an admiration of those who could articulate their thoughts in way that pushes through the fog.

Your book is still one of the most thought provoking I've come across. You explained things there that resonated immediately and gave me a clear awareness of things I'd been searching for all along.

I sense that you speak your words mindful of how they'll be heard, which is the highest form of respect you can give to those who choose to listen. I am grateful to have found your site. Thank you Rob.

Yes, Tim. I think what we all find is that we really know what to do, but we get intimidated by the 'musts' that other people tell us we have to do.

Back when I had a Health Club I allowed myself to get talked out of all the ideas I had that 'experts' told me were wrong. A few years ago I noticed they have become fairly common standard practices.

Also when I was a Trainee Cinema Manager and learned the way the industry worked, I made some suggestions, i.e a season ticket which I was told were impossible only for another chain to do them to this day.

In a lot of ways, I was able to see trends that were coming, but I allowed myself to get talked out of trusting myself. It caused me to reflect and notice that all the things that ended up bad, were when I didn't trust myself.

At the end of the day it's yourself you have to live with, isn't it?

I'm glad it's worked out in the end for you, Tim. We don't have to choose between money and integrity. We need to find new solutions and ways of thinking.

Thanks Osh, it means a lot to me.

What has been so enjoyable about writing here for me, and what makes the blog so valuable is been the quality of the people, such as yourself, who read and take the time to develop my raw ideas.

I'm glad it's been useful for you.

What I find interesting, is that your experience very closely mirrors my own over the last few years. I tried various "formulas" (formulae?!) and applied them to what I wrote or recorded. The "give all to all option" felt intuitively right to me. Instead, for about a year, I listened to people who had various ideas about "not valuing oneself or one's creations if they weren't charged for".

As I now look back, I can see how conflicted my mind was then. Why didn't I choose the peaceful option - when I knew to do so from years of study about the subject!

The ego,as we know, is fear-based and I (ego) was telling myself that I must have somehow "missed the boat" or "must market myself more" (Notice the "musts" in there? Certainly a sure sign of ego-bias!)

Anyway, now that I feel happy and at peace *despite" not charging (except for my weekly Yoga Nidra classes), the irony is, that I'm making more money!

Rob,
You're a hero man!
I found your 'live without conflict site' when I was in the depths of depression and looking for a quick fix or failing that a reason why I was feeling like this. This was November 2007 I think. After reading everything, I began to form a perspective that I had actually held all along. From reading your work it soon dawned on me that if I continued living my life with concrete perceptions I was in for a tough ride.
Your writing style contributed greatly as well, because it just flows. I still have to work on my attitude on a day to day if not hourly basis but it's thanks to your frequent reminders that I find it easier to get on with it and move into higher states of thinking.
I was a little bit cautious at the start about whether this was a scam or something but the information that I was receiving was so enlightening and realistic that I thought "this guy is also developing his own understanding. When people started to post their own interpretations I thought "what a great place to organize your thoughts!"
I owe you a lot Rob.

Peace
