32 Principles That Lead To Happiness |
Who Are You – The Shattered Mirror All of life is so, so simple. Yet the entire history of humanity has been of an ever-growing complexity. The result is that we sit here with few people having a strong sense of identity… and problems that have become so tangled that no-one seems to understand how to untangle them. Increasingly over the last couple of decades more and more people have been searching for Who They Are. There is nowhere to go to find yourself. The answer to Who Are You is simple. You only have to look into the mirror and say what you see. But any slight deviation from the complete and absolute truth… when you tell someone ‘no, you don’t look fat in that’, ‘yes, everything will work out fine’… when that is not what you believe… each causes a split in the mirror. Every time that you tell a lie, whether your intention behind it was good or bad you create a split in your internal reality. A lie is a denial of Who You Are. Once you have told a lie… you then have to keep hold of the truth in your mind, but at the same time, you have to hold onto the alternate reality. Now your mental energy has been split in two. Add to this the fact that many lies need other lies to maintain the original. Each then further divides your mental realities. Sometimes people will tell 2, 3 or even more versions of the same event to different audiences. This then divides their mental energy to maintain however many different stories they have told. Plus on top there is the additional worry of being found out. The result is similar to the effects of being schizophrenic. If you take every internal conflict between one part of you that wants to do X and another that wants to do Y. Add to these, every lie you have allowed to be interpreted from your responses and this determines how shattered your mirror is. Since the mirror is shattered it is difficult to see Who You Are. Am I the me in this fragment or that. Until you are whole and integrated – expressing Who You Are, in every situation… you cannot and neither can anyone else know Who You Are. As a result you do not add to the world… you do not create the value that you would by sharing your unique message and so you turn yourself into a commodity. To others you look bland and therefore just like many others. Therefore neither they nor you can see anything special about you. And so they don’t value you as highly as they could – and neither do you. The key to life is integrity, in every sense of the word. Generally we think of integrity meaning honesty. What it actually means is the integration of everything you think, say and do. When you are fully integrated and congruent then Who You Are, is no longer a question. In the meantime all the searching in the world won’t help you to find yourself. Next: What's Important Now Start Book To Put Excitement Back Into Your Life
