Life coaching is in my view the most significant method of personal development available today.
Almost all forms are effective. However there is a huge difference between accountability and transformational life coaching.
Accountability Coaches, are what I call Coaches who focus on accomplishments. They tend to be make action plans and check if the Client is sticking to their plan.
It is effective because it;
* helps to clarify their thinking,
* holds them accountable
* and provides the support and structure to achieve their goals quicker and with less pain.
The reason why I call this accountability life coaching is because the focus is the goal. For me, regardless of what the goal is, it is always less important than the person.
Often a person’s goal is not really what they want. It is the best way they know, at that moment, to articulate what they do want. They will often find upon achieving it, or on the road to achieving it that they really want something else.
So accountability life coaching is effective in helping you to get to where you are going quicker… even if it is going in a different direction to your ultimate goal.
Life-changing Coaches focus on the person. Rather than making action plans to achieve goals…transformational life coaching focuses on why the person has a problem.
It creates change in the person so that He or She never has to experience these types of problems again.
For example, a Client may want to further their career. The accountability Coach will jump in and set up a plan to increase their effectiveness and productivity. The Client might begin to market and promote themselves more and so on.
The life-changing Coach will instead ask;
* why the Client is not happy in their career?
* Why do they want to advance?
* What is it that they seek from furthering their career?
These type of questions all aim to go deeper and clarify what’s really going on. It is likely that they will highlight an area in the Client’s life that is causing unhappiness.
The goal was really just the best way that the Client knew how to feel better.
Bringing this to the attention of the Client, gives them increased choice and control over their life.
The difference between the life-changing and accountability Coaches is that the life-changing Coach knows that life is merely the manifestation of the inner world. Success is a natural extension of a peaceful and clear inner world.
The accountability Coach is worried… and believes they must achieve tangible success, for their work to be valued, that they neglect the inner world.
Accountability life coaching is effective for short-term projects. Transformational life coaching saves time and pain for the whole of your life.
If you are interested in transforming your life, a great place to start is by improving your stress management skills.
