Most people segregate people that they are interested in sexually into various levels. They say he is too attractive for me or she isn’t up to my standard. Generally we match up with someone of equivalent attractiveness.
And as most people aren’t up there with George Clooney or Cameron Diaz in the top league, there is a whole league… or two of attractive people we believe are unattainable. And even if you shared their looks, most people would undervalue themselves as not having the charm or the confidence that these individuals are perceived to have.
So the idea of being a sex symbol is that it instantly catapults you into that top section. Therefore this opens up your options and gives you free choice of potential partners. No one is closed to you – in theory anyway.
Also with your new-found status, men and/or women will be falling at your feet. The effort and uncertainty is taken out of seduction giving you the freedom and control to exert as and when you choose.
But just like money and fame being a sex symbol has it’s down sides. You see a symbol is just that.
A symbol.
People lust or love the symbol rather than the person. This may be fine initially. But we habituate to all experiences sooner or later.
And want something more.
For some this will lead to more debauchery, more depravity and more quantity. In which case the path leads to addiction to the temporary high.
Most though, will seek for something more intense and deeper. A strong emotional connection with another. And this comes from one individual’s bond with another.
Not by being a sex symbol.
Being a sex symbol will only provide access to temporary pleasure. But like chocolate, once the sugar rush has gone there is an emptiness. And emptiness creates craving. Craving leads to addiction. And soon you become the Servant rather than the Master.
So if these won’t bring happiness what will…
